Hi there! My name is Skye and I want to be your new favorite art teacher! ❤

I’ve been painting since I could hold a brush. I took decades worth of art classes growing up, in public school and also through private art programs including a youth art school in Santa Barbara.

In high school, my love of art continued. I was president of our school’s “Art Club” and also received an award for painting my senior year.

In my college years, I focused on my other greatest passion, writing. I found my way into journalism, and have been writing and reporting in tandem with my art practice ever since.

In my early 20s, I started teaching art professionally in “sip and paint” studios, and, in 2015, I founded Paint Party SLO in San Luis Obispo, California, combining painting and socializing in a unique, fun atmosphere. After several successful years, I passed the company on to a friend and fellow artist.

In December 2019, I launched my YouTube channel, Paint Along With Skye, to share my “beautiful but do-able” painting tutorials with a global audience. The channel allows me to connect with artists all over the world and help them find their creative spark from the comfort of their own homes.

I specialize in teaching beginners, offering approachable, step-by-step guidance that makes art accessible to everyone—no prior experience required!

In my classes, you’ll learn essential techniques like color mixing and brushwork, but the real goal is to enjoy the process and let go of the pressure to create “perfect” art. I believe there’s no wrong way to make art—it’s all about unlocking your creativity and having fun.

Teaching is one of my greatest joys, and my favorite moments are when students discover their love for art or unlock hidden creative talents during my classes.

I hope my tutorials inspire you to pick up a brush, embrace your creativity, and enjoy the journey of painting.
